Biography
Dr. Melinda Camus is a tenured professor in the Department of Pathobiology and serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
She earned her DVM from Louisiana State University (LSU) and completed her clinical pathology residency training at the University of Georgia (UGA), after which time she attained diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP).
Dr. Camus as a faculty member and chair of the clinical pathology laboratory at UGA until she came to Auburn in 2020. Her academic interests include hematology, quality assessment, process improvement, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Dr. Camus leads many college committees and serves on the university Student Academic Grievance Committee and the Persons with Disabilities Committee. She has filled numerous leadership roles in the ACVP and the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ASVCP), including co-chair of the Certifying Examination Board and president, respectively, and is currently on the AVMA’s Council on Education Executive Board and the International Council on Veterinary Assessment Board of Directors.
In September 2026, the Southeastern Conference selected her for its 2026-2027 Academic Leadership Development Program cohort.
